Writing from Montreal. I was 12 when Dennis Martinez pitched his perfect game, which might be my all time favorite baseball memory, and 25 when they packed their bats and gloves on their way to DC. I have thoroughly enjoyed your Expos-themed interviews with Kevin Malone and Dave Van Horne. Expos content, somehow, is not that plentiful these days on the internets.
Although I used to follow tv broadcasts of Expos' games, through thick and thin, being a francophone, my favorite brodcast team of all time, still to this day, was the RDS tag team of Denis Casavant and Rodger Brûlotte. I am sure you know them personally of course, M. Brûlotte, in essence, having been associated in one capacity or another since the birth of the franchise.
So, I imagine you see me coming here, I would love nothing more than you having a conversation with Brûlotte. Lord, would that be a treat. Rodger Brûlotte, as you know, may be a lot of things, but boring is not one of them. And he is a fantastic storyteller.
(Caz would also be interesting, albeit in his more subdued style, which complemented his broadcast partner so well.)
In any case, I am launching this request into the ether, and congratulating you and M. MacArthur for your excellent podcast.
Rich. I just listened to your anybody with DVH and it brought back so many wonderful memories for me. I lived in Montreal from 1968 to 1983 and attend many games in both parks. I loved then and still do like listening to baseball on the radio and Duke and Dave are the hallmarks for me in creating a sensation of intimacy that is solidly entrenched in my memory bank. I was at the heartbreaking Rogers Monday game and I remember walking from that game with my shoulders hunch and my spirit broken and even if it is only a game it is capable of being so much more to those us, like you, who love it deeply. My only regret about your broadcast was that you didn’t discuss “the spaceman”. I am a subscriber and love what you do. Robert Blair
I will try and have a conversation with Space soon.
