I admire your vote for Bautista and would've done the same thing if I had a vote. Thanks for the explanation of your ballot, Richard.

There will always be healthy disagreement and discussion when it come to Hall-of-Fame voting, but one thing I appreciate about baseball's process is the transparency of ballots being revealed with permission of the voters after the results are announced. Whether it was to be writers, broadcasters, former players or fans, there will always be disagreement and room for legitimate discussion. Try and figure out the voting in hockey or pro football. Impossible. Thanks for your feedback.

While I appreciate that you love the game and have respect for the players who have dedicated their life to it, votes like this are also what can piss people off about the role that writers play in electing or eliminating players.

And I say this even though I acknowledge that you know far more than I do about baseball and it's your vote and it's well earned after 52 years.

Beltran is not a Hall of famer this year on your ballot because the public thinks he needs to be punished? But you'll vote for him next year?

Buerlhe and Pettitte were choices out of respect but that expired even though you still have room on your ballot to include them? So they were never Hall worthy in your opinion?

To me this all comes across as playing games with the lives of people who you acknowledge deserve the utmost respect for dedicating their lives to the game and producing incredible results..

It's one thing to drop players when you feel there are more worthy candidates or add players after the more worthy ones get elected, but this imo, is playing with the power you've been given in a way that feels less than honorable.

And I say that as someone who often learns from your opinions and likes what you write.
