Blue Jays ownership demonstrated this winter where they were willing to go with team payroll when they stayed with the Shohei Ohtani negotiations to the bitter end. Those parameters now being understood, given that the 10 years and up top $700-million did not scare them off, now is the time for the Blue Jays to lock up their home-grown cornerstone players, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette for the next decade. All championship teams need at least two players signed and developed from within, around which to build. For the Jays, if not Vlad and Bo, then who’s got next. Nobody down on the farm is on the immediate horizon. It says here that for the Jays, Vlad + Bo > Shohei. Hey, bottom line is the over-priced inventory resulting from Rogers Centre renovations is not going to sell itself. Now is the time to lock up the two young stars and trust that the best is yet to come as far as on-field performance.
