Notes from manager John Schneider’s office

Injury updates: RH Chad Green (strained shoulder) and RH Bowden Francis (forearm tendinitis) will both pitch for Triple-A Buffalo, at Rochester, on Sunday. Both are close to returning to the active list and it could be as early as Tuesday vs. the White Sox. RH Yariel Rodriguez will start on Tuesday for Buffalo. “They are not really result-oriented,” MGR John Schneider said of his trio of rehabbing pitchers. Schneider reiterated the organization’s concern for Y-Rod’s 2024 innings and pitch count, and thinks there’s enough room to stretch the Cuban rookie back out a bit, leaving the possibility open that if a sixth starter is ever needed, he’s got next.   

It was interesting to hear Schneider’s opinion on his five-man starting rotation and how they benefitted from the three off-days in the past 11, with the extra rest that accompanied them.
