Some interesting minutiae has surfaced, regarding completion of the Blue Jays suspended game at Fenway Park, from June 26. The rains had come in the top of the second inning with Danny Jansen batting and a count of one strike, facing Sox starter Kutter Crawford. The completion of that game will be followed by the regularly scheduled game on August 26.
A brilliant piece in The Athletic by Jayson Stark, puts this game into historical perspective, centred around the fact that Jansen is now with the Red Sox and is likely to be behind the plate for Boston when Schneider has to pinch hit for Jansen to begin the resumed proceedings. He will be the first player in history to play for both teams in the same game. It goes on from there with the perspective only Stark can lend to it.
