Starting Pitchers:

Friday 7:07 p.m. – RH Brayan Bello (12-8, 3.68) vs. RH Jose Berrios (10-10, 3.63)

Saturday (3:07 p.m.) – LH Chris Sale (6-4, 4.88 ERA) vs. RH Chris Bassitt (14-8, 3.83)

Sunday (1:37 p.m.) – RH Nick Pivetta (9-9, 4.56) vs. LH Hyun Jin Ryu (3-3, 2.93)

Red Sox (74-73): The Sox enter the three-game weekend series, one day after the unexpected firing of GM Chaim Bloom. That current uncertainty of “who’s got next” may not affect the players on the field as they enter this key series, but it certainly has to be a distraction in the clubhouse, off the field. Boston was forced to host two straight doubleheaders vs. the hated Yankees on Tuesday and Thursday due to wonky weather and were forced to use eight of their nine relievers on Thursday, all except RH Josh Winckowski. The Sox also have placed closer RH Kenley Jansen on the COVID-IL earlier in the week and are missing their emerging star, CF Jarren Duran, and Jays-killer LH James Paxton both on the injured list.
