Blue Jays place Kevin Kiermaier on MLB Waivers
Waiver moves made all the time but rarely reported on
On Thursday, just prior to Blue Jays scheduled series finale vs. the Giants in a matinee game at Oracle Park, San Francisco, it was reported by Joel Sherman, of the New York Post, that veteran outfielder Kevin Kiermaier has been placed on waivers. The 34-year-old defensive specialist is owed approximately $4.5-million for the remaining 80 days of the season, so if any team would submit a waiver claim with major-league baseball’s office within 72 hours, they receive the player and will then be responsible for the rest of the contract. Kiermaier, in his second season with the Jays, is on a one-year $10.5-million deal for ‘24 and will be a free-agent in the off-season.
