There is nothing worse in any major-league clubhouse in August and September than bearing witness to apparent apathy. And I have been inside 51 of those clubhouses in Montreal and Toronto since 1973 and seen a lot of October family vacations being planned by players, as early as the trade deadline. Not this year.
